Entropy is key. A strong password uses a mix of character types and, most importantly, length. A 16-character password is exponentially harder to crack than an 8-character one, even if the 8-character one is complex.
Encryption transforms readable data (plaintext) into an unreadable format (ciphertext) using an algorithm and a key. Only those with the correct key can decrypt the information back into its original form.
